Planning Engineer
ScottishPower is hiring a Planning Engineer to work at the Hamilton International Technology Park in Blantyre. The salary for this position is up to £66,000 per year, depending on experience. This is a permanent position with a 37-hour workweek, split between office and site work three days a week. The role is part of the ScottishPower Energy Networks Transmission Strategic Projects team, which is responsible for developing and managing project schedules for multi-billion-pound future investment plans. The Planning Engineer will be at the center of a vibrant and evolving project delivery team, working on critical national network infrastructure construction projects. These projects aim to reinforce the existing electrical transmission asset base and expand the transmission network to meet future UK network electricity demand and facilitate the delivery of the UK's Net-Zero strategy. The engineer will be directly responsible for producing, maintaining, and updating high-quality Primavera P6 schedules for over £2 billion of SP Transmission Strategic Reinforcement projects. As a Planning Engineer, the successful candidate will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to cultivate and maintain close working relationships, ensuring regular, accurate, and consistent schedule updates. They will also be responsible for identifying and communicating inter-dependencies and clashes, leading the development of innovative programming solutions. Responsibilities - Create, develop, and manage high-quality schedules within Primavera (P6) Enterprise for evolving SPEN Transmission Major Project schedules - Interface with internal and external stakeholders to ensure regular, accurate, and consistent schedule updates - Identify and communicate inter-dependencies and clashes, leading the development of innovative programming solutions - Resolve programming issues in project schedules, coordinating inputs from internal and external stakeholders - Integrate Contractor Clause 31 & Clause 32 Delivery Partner schedules into the SPEN Project Schedule - Identify and highlight schedule risks and variance to internal and external stakeholders, developing mitigation scenarios where program risk and variance is identified - Produce portfolio-level monthly reports based on the most up-to-date project schedule KPIs, informing and assisting the Senior Management decision-making process Requirements & Qualifications - Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience) - Working knowledge of Planning Software tools (Primavera P6 & MSPe) within a utility and/or construction environment - Clear understanding of Project Management principles - PC literate with strong reporting and spreadsheet modeling skills - Strong verbal and written communication skills - Experienced in report writing and use of MS Office tools such as Word, Excel, and Access - Appreciation of quality assurance processes is beneficial Benefits - Competitive salary up to £66,000 per year (dependant on experience) - Annual salary review - Pension scheme with company contribution of up to 10% - 36 days annual leave - Holiday Purchase scheme - Share Schemes - Payroll Giving and Charity Matched Funding - Technology Vouchers - Electric Vehicle Schemes - Cycle to Work scheme and Public Transport Season Ticket Loans - Healthcare benefit options including Dental Insurance, Private Medical Insurance, Health Cash Plan, and annual Health Assessments - Life Assurance (4x salary) - Access to Savesmart financial wellbeing support - Shopping, leisure, restaurant, and gym discounts, and unique employee deals on travel insurance and more 2.
