Payroll Specialist
Sysco Bahamas Food Services is hiring a Payroll Specialist to lead all payroll functions. The role involves inputting and validating payroll on an accurate and timely basis, based on company policy and guidelines. The Payroll Specialist will maintain payroll information by designing systems, collecting, calculating, and entering data. The company is the largest food service distributor in The Bahamas, committed to sourcing quality food products and providing high-level service to customers. The Payroll Specialist will work with various departments, including HR and Sales, to administer payroll-related tasks. The role requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to maintain confidentiality. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, previous experience in ISL Payroll Software, and 3-5 years of payroll experience. The candidate should also have knowledge of local employment law and be proficient in MS Office, especially Excel. Responsibilities Input and validate payroll on an accurate and timely basis, based on company policy and guidelines Maintain payroll information by designing systems, collecting, calculating, and entering data Ensure systems are set up and updated to reflect the current employee base, including wages, benefits, sick and vacation time Prepare and maintain relevant management reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports Develop and prepare requested payroll reports and compensation studies for CFO, HR, and President as requested Prepare all payroll-related reports and determine payroll liabilities by calculating NIB deductions, insurance deductions, and submission of worker's compensation payments Handle all Accounts Payable responsibilities related to compensation, benefit programs, incentives, and rewards Follow Corporate-directed protocols for period/year-end Maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures Comply with local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions Administer the Company's Paid Time Off policies, including employee time off accruals Administer timekeeping program, including user maintenance, colleague enrollment, technical support, problem-solving, and manager training/support Roll-out and administer payroll compensation or incentive programs as required Assist the Sales department in the administration of the Sales Consultants Compensation program Identify areas requiring process improvement and escalate to internal leadership Assist employees and managers with payroll-related questions Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential Perform all other duties as assigned by management Requirements & Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance Previous experience in ISL Payroll Software 3-5 years of payroll experience Knowledge of local employment law Must display confidentiality in the execution of all duties and responsibilities Must demonstrate sound work ethics and responsible behavior Proficient at MS Office, especially Excel Working experience of NIB contribution payments Process management, data entry management, and reporting Prior system conversion experience a plus Problem-solving skills with the ability to seek alternative solutions for dilemmas and problems Professional aptitude, presentation, and demeanor Highly organized with an ability to maintain a high level of detail, understanding of traceability, and accuracy Adaptability/Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment Results-oriented and able to work independently Excellent team player Benefits Competitive Pay & Performance Bonuses Comprehensive Health & Wellness Plans, including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, and Mental Health Support Pension Plan Career Growth & Development Inclusive & Supportive Culture 2.
