About this opportunity
Opportunity Overview
A manufacturer of electro-optic devices is seeking a senior Qt developer to design and build the graphical user interface for next-generation devices. The company is transitioning from analog to digital product lines. The ideal candidate will work closely with the company's FPGA/hardware engineer to define technical requirements and integration points. The interface will run on embedded hardware, controlled via a small physical button array, allowing users to switch between imagery backgrounds and overlays. The role involves designing and developing a Qt-based GUI for embedded electro-optic hardware, with a focus on creating a simple and robust UI architecture. The developer will participate in scoping discussions with the end client as needed and build for long-term, ongoing collaboration across multiple device generations. The company is looking for a candidate with strong hands-on experience with Qt and C++-based GUI development. The position requires collaboration with a non-technical team, advising on UI/UX architecture decisions, and participating in pre-development planning phases. The company is looking for a candidate who can work independently and communicate effectively with the client, who is based remotely.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop a Qt-based GUI for embedded electro-optic hardware, controlled via physical buttons
- Collaborate with the FPGA systems engineer to define technical requirements and integration points
- Advise the client on the simplest, most robust UI architecture for their goals
- Participate in scoping discussions with the end client as needed
- Build for long-term, ongoing collaboration across multiple device generations
Benefits
- Remote work arrangement
- Opportunity for long-term, ongoing collaboration across multiple device generations
- Direct input into UI/UX architecture decisions during the pre-development planning phase
