Opportunity Overview
The Commonwealth Startup Fellowships are six-month fellowships for high-potential startups from low and middle income Commonwealth countries. The program combines in-person experiences and online learning to provide essential skills and knowledge. It is run by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission and Imperial College London. The goal is for entrepreneurs to build thriving businesses and drive job creation in their home countries. A cohort of 20 early stage start-ups will be recruited. The program includes a two-week bootcamp in Accra, Ghana, and a weeklong series of capstone events at the end. One person from each business must be available to attend these events. The program aims to identify talented individuals who have the potential to make change. Eligibility
- Must be of at least graduate level.
- Must be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible low or middle income Commonwealth country.
- Must be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country.
- Must be fluent in written and spoken English.
- Must not have undertaken a Commonwealth Professional Fellowship within the last five years.
- Must be available to undertake their fellowship from the prescribed start date.
- Must demonstrate evidence of innovation.
- Must have an active development for at least six-months and demonstrable commitment from team members.
- Must have a working minimum viable ‘product’, service and/or prototype.
- Must have significant evidence of customer engagement or traction.
