This is a full-time permanent position for a Senior Legal Counsel in the Commercial Legal department at FIFA, located in Miami. The role involves supporting the Commercial Legal team leads on legal matters related to FIFA's Innovation and Technology operations. The position requires a Juris Doctor degree from a top-tier accredited law school and active bar membership. The role is part of the Legal & Compliance department and involves providing legal support in various areas, including FIFA's direct to consumer media offerings and innovation portfolios. The ideal candidate should have excellent written and spoken English language skills, as well as negotiation, drafting, and problem-solving skills. The position is suited for someone with a strong understanding of the digital and technology industry landscapes and the ability to work autonomously on a wide variety of projects. The candidate should be proactive, resilient, and able to handle a large workload amid rapidly shifting priorities.
Responsibilities
- Assist in supporting on legal matters relating to FIFA’s Innovation and Technology operations
- Provide legal support in areas such as FIFA’s direct to consumer media offerings, hardware and software procurement, and the collection of match data
- Ensure appropriate ownership, protection, and exploitation of FIFA-proprietary technology developments and collaborations
- Provide general commercial legal support to FIFA’s strategic and corporate development activities
- Support as point of contact for legal matters for FIFA’s Football, Technology and Innovation Department
- Provide strategic liaison with FIFA’s Data Protection department
- Develop and maintain suitable template agreements
- Support in the delivery of ad hoc advice on issues relating to technology-related activities

Requirements & Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a top-tier accredited law school
- Active bar membership
- Minimum of 7 years of expertise in the industry in an in-house legal department or a top-tier law firm
- First-class written and spoken English language skills
- Excellent negotiation, drafting, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Structured, reliable, and well-organised with a strong eye for detail
- Proactive, with a strong sense of personal responsibility and ability to work autonomously
