About this opportunity
Opportunity Overview
The STAIR-Annapolis program offers a twice-weekly after school literacy tutoring opportunity for volunteers to work with first and second grade students reading below grade level. The program is run at two sites: Four Seasons Elementary and Waugh Chapel Elementary in Crofton/Gambrills. Tutors work one-on-one with a student for an hour-long session, and can choose their level of commitment. The program runs from early October to early May. The STAIR-Annapolis program provides a comprehensive introduction and training for all new volunteers. The program has regular monthly information sessions, which are 45 minutes long and provide an overview of the STAIR program. Volunteers will be working with students who are reading below grade level, and will be providing one-on-one tutoring sessions. The program is looking for volunteers who can commit to one day per week, two days per week, or as a substitute on an as-needed basis.
