Opportunity Overview
The International Monetary Fund's Finance Department is hiring a Finance Officer to work in the Financial Operations and Reporting Division. This division manages the Fund's finances, conducts financial operations with member countries and other financial institutions, and prepares financial statements and reports. The Finance Officer will execute and support the accounting of the Fund's financial operations, participate in the formulation and implementation of financial policies, and prepare and analyze financial statements and reports. The Finance Officer will work on a range of tasks, including drafting documents and making presentations to senior management, maintaining relationships with officials of member countries and financial institution counterparts, and providing advice on financial transactions and policies. The role will also involve liaising with internal and external auditors, proposing new controls and procedures, and developing strategies and innovations in financial operations, accounting, and reporting. The International Monetary Fund is a global organization that works to promote international monetary cooperation and exchange rate stability. The Finance Department plays a critical role in supporting the Fund's operations and achieving its goals.
Responsibilities
- Execute and support the accounting of the financial operations of the Fund
- Participate in the formulation and implementation of financial policies
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports
- Draft documents and make presentations to senior management on financial transactions and financial reporting requirements
- Maintain strong relationships with officials of member countries and financial institution counterparts
- Respond to queries from Executive Directors, country authorities, or other departments
- Provide advice related to members' financial positions in the Fund or financial transactions and policies
- Liaise with internal and external auditors on their audits of the financial statements, financial transactions, and implementation of financial policies
- Propose new controls or procedures and assess and document controls over financial transactions
- Develop strategies and innovations in financial operations, accounting, and reporting
- Apply knowledge of IT change management to ensure policies are accurately translated to financial IT systems
- Assist in guiding development of financial systems and work practices
- Lead or substantially contribute to functionality enhancements in reporting and operations necessitated by evolving Fund policies
- Support projects of a wide nature that contribute to the development and implementation of the division’s overall goals and milestones

Requirements & Qualifications
- Advanced university degree, or equivalent, in business, finance, budgeting, accounting, statistics, computer science, or related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or similar professional certification
- University degree, or equivalent, supplemented by a minimum of six years of relevant professional experience
- Minimum of two years of experience in a related position at Grade A8, or equivalent
- Significant experience with application of International Financial Reporting Standards
- Experience working on financial operations in a financial institution (central bank/large bank)
