Opportunity Overview
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is hiring a Senior Livelihood Economic Inclusion Associate in Addis Ababa. This is a General Service position, locally recruited, and does not require higher education. The role will support the operationalization of the strategic vision to align livelihoods and economic inclusion efforts with the Global Compact on Refugees. The Senior Livelihood Economic Inclusion Associate will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Livelihood and Economic Inclusion Officer and supervise some support staff. The incumbent will collaborate closely with UNHCR livelihoods partners, government agencies, private sector, and financial service providers to enhance economic inclusion and improve self-reliance of persons of concern and host community members. The role will also involve exploring opportunities for collaboration with other UNHCR cross-cutting areas, documenting good practices, and generating knowledge. All UNHCR staff members are accountable to perform their duties as reflected in their job description, within their delegated authorities, and in line with the regulatory framework of UNHCR. Staff members are required to discharge their responsibilities in a manner consistent with UNHCR's core values of professionalism, integrity, and respect for diversity.
Responsibilities
- Explore partnerships to facilitate the economic inclusion of refugees, such as line ministries, private sector, and development actors
- Advocate with public and private sector services providers to include UNHCR persons of concern in supporting services
- Provide technical assistance on livelihoods interventions to help ensure they are market-based
- Coordinate with other UNHCR sectors to ensure that the developed livelihoods work plan integrates protection safeguards
- Build on UNHCR databases to support regular information sharing and coordination among different stakeholders
- Evaluate submitted concept notes and other project documents to ensure they conform to UNHCR's quality standards
- Support the identification and management of risks and seek to seize opportunities impacting objectives
- Perform other related duties as required

Requirements & Qualifications
- 4 years relevant experience with High School Diploma, or 2 years relevant work experience with Bachelor or equivalent or higher
- Experience in facilitating the economic inclusion of vulnerable and marginalized groups in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience in working in partnership with private sector, NGOs, UN organisations, development actors, and government authorities
- Knowledge of English and UN working language of the duty station if not English
- Functional skill in Strategic Planning and Advocacy for Refugee Socioeconomic Rights
- Business Management, Socio-Economics Development, Economics/International Economics, Rural Development, Financial Management, Agriculture, or other relevant field certificates and/or licenses
