Opportunity Overview
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is hiring a Junior Professional Officer (JPO) Associate HR Policy Officer in Vienna, Austria. This is a 2-year position with possible extension for another year, subject to yearly review of priorities, availability of funds, and satisfactory performance. The IAEA's Human Resources Development Section is responsible for providing HR services and advice to the Agency's staff, including learning and development, performance management, diversity, equality, and inclusion. The Associate HR Policy Officer will contribute to the development of HR policies and procedures, support the team in designing standard operation procedures, and participate in HR projects. The IAEA's Division of Human Resources plans, acquires, and manages human resources to implement the Agency's programs. The Division serves a multicultural workforce of approximately 2300 people from diverse scientific, technical, managerial, and professional disciplines. The Associate HR Policy Officer will work under the guidance of the HR Policy Specialist, researching policies and best practices, collecting and analyzing information on HR matters, and contributing to various HR initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in business administration, human resources management, international relations, law, or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in human resources management at the national or international level. Excellent oral and written command of English is required, and knowledge of other official IAEA languages is an asset.
Responsibilities
- Assist the HR Policy Specialist in developing new and revised HR policies and procedures
- Conduct background research on HR matters and prepare policy opinions, briefs, and reports
- Support the HR Policy Specialist in providing interpretation and guidance on the application of the Agency's Staff Regulations, Rules, policies, and guidelines
- Assist in knowledge management initiatives to ensure the effective capture, retention, and dissemination of HR information and communications
- Participate in various HR projects by providing analytical support, preparing documents and reports, consolidating feedback from subject matter experts, and suggesting improvements on related issues

Requirements & Qualifications
- Master's degree in business administration, human resources management, international relations, law, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in human resources management at the national or international level
- Excellent oral and written command of English
- Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an asset
- Relevant work experience can be counted, with 2 years of work experience mandatory for participants of the JPO-Programme
