Opportunity Overview
The KWI International Fellowships 2026 in Germany offers a unique opportunity for researchers worldwide to contribute to innovative scholarship and explore interdisciplinary connections in philology, cultural studies, and social sciences. This six-month fellowship, funded by the prestigious Kulturwissenschaftliches Institut Essen, invites applications from PhD holders with up to six years of post-doctoral experience. As a fellow, you will be part of a vibrant research community, supported by state-of-the-art facilities and a comprehensive infrastructure. Benefits & Financial Aid
- Monthly Stipend: €3,000 (pre-tax allowance)
- Travel Reimbursement: Half of travel costs to and from KWI will be reimbursed
- Financial Coverage: Fully funded
- Note: Additional travel expenses, such as conference costs, will be covered by the stipend
Eligibility Criteria
- Completed PhD and up to six years of post-doctoral experience
- Ability to develop or extend cooperation with universities within the Ruhr Alliance
- Available to attend KWI for a minimum of three days per week
- Willingness to participate in entry and exit interviews, colloquium, lectures, conferences, and reading groups
- Ability to contribute regularly to the KWI Blog
- No requirement for teaching, but can attend lectures and seminars at local universities
- Publications resulting from the stay at KWI must acknowledge the institute
