The YWCA Greater Cincinnati established the Mamie Earl Sells Scholarship Fund in 1993 to support outstanding African-American female high school seniors pursuing higher education. Eligibility
- Be an African-American female (cisgender or transgender)
- Be a graduating high school senior
- Reside in the Greater Cincinnati area
- Plan to enroll in an accredited post-secondary institution
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Demonstrate academic achievement, leadership, and community involvement
- Personal challenges and hardships are also considered
- ACT and/or SAT scores are evaluated
- Letters of recommendation are required
- Class rank is considered
- Honors and awards are evaluated
- Extracurricular activities are considered
- Community service is evaluated
- Employment history is considered
