The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is hiring a Registration Assistant to support all activities related to registration. The incumbent will be supervised by a more senior colleague and will be responsible for supporting registration activities, which may also include functions related to reception, filing, and data management. The Registration Assistant will respond to queries from asylum seekers and refugees regarding UNHCR's registration procedures and their rights and entitlements. The role is part of the registration team and will work closely with protection staff and partners to ensure timely identification and referral of persons of concern for protection follow-up. The Registration Assistant will be required to conduct registration interviews, maintain accurate and up-to-date records, and identify persons with specific needs. The role will also involve collaborating with protection staff and partners in the delivery of assistance and programming, including provision of identity and entitlement documentation. The Registration Assistant may also be required to act as an interpreter and translator when needed. The UNHCR is a global organization that works to protect and assist refugees and asylum seekers. The Registration Assistant will be part of a team that works to ensure that refugees and asylum seekers have access to the support and services they need. Responsibilities
- Conduct registration interviews in accordance with local SOPs and registration standards
- Respond to queries from asylum seekers and refugees regarding UNHCR's registration procedures and their rights and entitlements
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and data related to all individual registration cases
- Identify persons with specific needs and ensure timely referral to protection follow-up as required
- Collaborate with protection staff and/or partners in the delivery of assistance and programming, including provision of identity and entitlement documentation
- Act as interpreter and translator when needed
- Refer cases to other units within the office and to implementing partners as necessary
- Support the identification and management of risks and seek to seize opportunities impacting objectives in the area of responsibility
- Perform other related duties as required

Requirements & Qualifications
- 1 year relevant experience with High School Diploma; or Bachelor or equivalent or higher
- Knowledge of English and UN working language of the duty station if not English
- IT-Computer Literacy is essential
- Experience in working with UNHCR proGres software is desirable
- Social Sciences, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Technology certificates and licenses are desirable
