Opportunity Overview
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is hiring a Registration Assistant to support all activities related to registration. The incumbent will be supervised by a more senior colleague and will be responsible for conducting registration interviews, responding to queries from asylum seekers and refugees, and maintaining accurate records. The Registration Assistant will also liaise with protection staff and partners to ensure timely identification and referral of persons of concern for protection follow up. The role may include providing interpretation and/or translation services. The Registration Assistant will be part of the registration team and will work closely with other staff members to deliver assistance and programming to asylum seekers and refugees. The incumbent will also be required to identify persons with specific needs and ensure timely referral to protection follow-up as required. The role will involve collaborating with protection staff and/or partners in the delivery of assistance and programming, including provision of identity and entitlement documentation. Responsibilities
- Conduct registration interviews in accordance with local SOPs and registration standards
- Respond to queries from asylum seekers and refugees regarding UNHCR's registration procedures and their rights and entitlements
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and data related to all individual registration cases
- Identify persons with specific needs and ensure timely referral to protection follow-up as required
- Collaborate with protection staff and/or partners in the delivery of assistance and programming, including provision of identity and entitlement documentation
- Act as interpreter and translator when needed
- Refer cases to other units within the office and to implementing partners as necessary
- Support the identification and management of risks and seek to seize opportunities impacting objectives in the area of responsibility
- Perform other related duties as required

Requirements & Qualifications
- 1 year relevant experience with High School Diploma; or Bachelor or equivalent or higher
- Knowledge of English and UN working language of the duty station if not English
- IT-Computer Literacy
- Experience in working with UNHCR proGres software is desirable
- Social Sciences; Statistics; Mathematics; Information Technology certificates and/or licenses are desirable
