The World Food Programme is hiring a Programme Policy Officer to work on nutrition and fortification in New Delhi, India. This is a 12-month service contract position, renewable depending on funding availability. The officer will provide technical support to enhance the nutritional effectiveness of the public distribution system in India. The position is open to Indian nationals only. The Programme Policy Officer will work closely with the Department of Food and Public Distribution and the World Food Programme's Nutrition and School Feeding team. The role involves reviewing and researching evidence-based nutrition interventions, analyzing national datasets, and facilitating cross-ministerial coordination on nutrition interventions. The officer will also develop training modules, information, education, and communication strategies, and support the implementation of quality control and quality assurance protocols. Responsibilities
- Review and research evidence-based nutrition sensitive interventions and best practices from other countries
- Provide technical and policy level support to operationalize feasible nutrition-based solutions
- Analyze national datasets to monitor the need for nutritional alignment in the public distribution system
- Facilitate cross-ministerial coordination on agreed nutrition interventions
- Serve as the nodal technical point for linking ministries and departments on proposed nutrition interventions
- Assess and document learnings from the implementation of nutrition interventions
- Support the development of training modules and capacity building of government counterparts
- Develop information, education, and communication strategies and materials
- Support the implementation of quality control and quality assurance protocols

Requirements & Qualifications
- Advanced university degree in Public Health Nutrition, Nutrition, Food Technology, Medicine, or other relevant field
- At least one year of professional experience in nutrition
- 10-12 years of experience working in partnership with the government, UN agency, or INGO on nutrition-related issues is desirable
- Extensive experience working across government ministries and departments and supporting the implementation of large-scale nutrition projects is desirable
- Experience providing inputs into policy discussions and decisions on nutrition is an added plus
- High level of proficiency with MS office package
- Knowledge of GIS tools and data visualization tools is useful
- Knowledge of coding for developing AI/ML solutions is an added advantage
- Fluent oral and written communication skills in English and Hindi
