Opportunity Overview
The World Health Organization is hiring a Driver to work in their country office. The incumbent will provide reliable and secure driving services, manage day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, and report any incidents or accidents. The Driver will also provide clerical and general office assistance to office staff. The role requires a completion of secondary education or equivalence training and a valid driving license. The Driver will work closely with the Head of the WHO country office, authorized personnel, and other staff members. The World Health Organization offers an attractive remuneration package, which includes an annual net base salary starting at USD 31,604 and 30 days of annual leave. The Driver will also be required to meet official personnel and visitors at the airport and facilitate immigration and customs formalities, as required.
Responsibilities
- Provide reliable and secure driving services by driving office vehicles for the transport of the Head of the WHO country office, authorized personnel, and the delivery and collection of mail, documents, and other items
- Meet official personnel and visitors at the airport and facilitate immigration and customs formalities, as required
- Check for availability of all the required documents/supplies for the assigned vehicle, including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts
- Complete the monthly vehicle data form at the end of the month
- Manage day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, oil changes, checking tyres and brakes, car washing, and making arrangements for major repairs
- Report any incidents/accidents as per the steps outlined in the rules and regulations
- Provide clerical and general office assistance to office staff

Requirements & Qualifications
- Completion of secondary education or equivalence training
- Valid driving license
- Minimum two years of work experience as a driver with a safe driving record
- In-depth knowledge of local traffic regulations and topography of the country
- Proficient in protocol and organizational security standards for drivers
- Proven mechanical knowledge and skills in operating and maintaining different types of vehicles
- Proven ability to interact positively and tactfully with diverse clients
- Ability to write concise official reports of incidents, read and understand instructions in the working language
- Intermediate knowledge of English
- Expert knowledge of Arabic
