DSTI-NRF Postgraduate Student Funding for the 2027 Academic Year
Opportunity Overview The DSTI and NRF are offering postgraduate student funding for the 2027 academic year. This funding is available for Master's and Doctoral students in all areas of Science, Engineering, Technology, Social Sciences, and Humanities. The NRF has a minimum academic requirement of 65% for the previous degree. The funding will be awarded in two categories: Full Cost of Study (FCS) and Partial Cost of Study (PCS). FCS funding is available to South African citizens and Permanent Residents who are financially needy, living with a disability, or are exceptional academic achievers. PCS funding will be awarded to 5% of international students, including South African citizens and Permanent Residents who meet the minimum requirements but are not eligible for FCS. The application process will be done through the NRF Connect System. Students are expected to apply online, and no manual applications will be accepted.
