Opportunity Overview

The Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities (KWI) is hosting the Germany KWI International Fellowships 2027, a six-month research fellowship in Essen, Germany, from April 1 to September 30, 2027. This fellowship is for early-career postdoctoral researchers working in the humanities, cultural studies, and social sciences. The KWI provides a monthly allowance of €3,000, research facilities, office space, and opportunities to collaborate with an international academic community. The fellowship is designed for researchers who have completed their PhD in 2021 or later and have no more than six years of postdoctoral research experience. German nationals may also apply if they are currently employed at an international institution. The monthly allowance is intended to cover accommodation, insurance, and living expenses during the fellowship. The KWI's current research agenda includes areas such as humanities, cultural studies, social sciences, science studies, visual literacy, aesthetic practices, historical impact studies, cultural and social science dialogues, and interdisciplinary humanities research. Selected fellows will have access to research infrastructure, library facilities, administrative and technical support, and research management assistance.

Eligibility

Hold a completed PhD in the humanities or social sciences
Have no more than six years of postdoctoral research experience
Have completed their PhD in 2021 or later

Spend at least three days per week at the KWI in Essen

24th ASEF Seminar 2026 in Mongolia | Fully Funded Human Rights Seminar

The Asia-Europe Foundation is organizing the 24th ASEF Seminar 2026 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, from October 12 to October 14, 2026. This fully funded international seminar will bring together young leaders, academics, policymakers, civil society representatives, and human rights practitioners from Asia and Europe to discuss global human rights issues. The seminar will be followed by a two-day Capacity-Building Program for selected participants. The seminar's theme, "The Future of Human Rights: From Local to Global," will explore how local human rights initiatives can contribute to regional and global human rights protection while addressing emerging global challenges. The seminar will provide a platform for participants to engage in discussions on various topics, including human rights governance, digital rights, social inclusion, equality and non-discrimination, climate justice, civic participation, international cooperation, emerging human rights challenges, and Asia-Europe regional collaboration.
