The Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities (KWI) is hosting the Germany KWI International Fellowships 2027, a six-month research fellowship in Essen, Germany, from April 1 to September 30, 2027. This fellowship is for early-career postdoctoral researchers working in the humanities, cultural studies, and social sciences. The KWI provides a monthly allowance of β¬3,000, research facilities, office space, and opportunities to collaborate with an international academic community. The fellowship is designed for researchers who have completed their PhD in 2021 or later and have no more than six years of postdoctoral research experience. German nationals may also apply if they are currently employed at an international institution. The monthly allowance is intended to cover accommodation, insurance, and living expenses during the fellowship. The KWI's current research agenda includes areas such as humanities, cultural studies, social sciences, science studies, visual literacy, aesthetic practices, historical impact studies, cultural and social science dialogues, and interdisciplinary humanities research. Selected fellows will have access to research infrastructure, library facilities, administrative and technical support, and research management assistance.

Eligibility
- Hold a completed PhD in the humanities or social sciences
- Have no more than six years of postdoctoral research experience
- Have completed their PhD in 2021 or later
- Apply individually (group applications are not accepted)
- Demonstrate strong English language proficiency
- Be available for the full fellowship period
- Spend at least three days per week at the KWI in Essen
- Researchers from all countries are eligible to apply
