Opportunity Overview
The International Rescue Committee is hiring an Intake Services Intern for Fall 2026. This internship is based in the Baltimore metropolitan area and will support the intake team in welcoming and contributing to the self-sufficiency of refugees, asylees, and other humanitarian immigrants. The intern will work under the direction of an Intake Specialist or Coordinator and will have the opportunity to learn about the services available to refugees and asylees, conduct eligibility assessments, and communicate effectively with clients. The internship will be a hybrid of in-person and remote work, with a required orientation on Monday, September 14th, and regular weekly hours starting the week of September 14th, 2026. The intern will be expected to work a minimum of 15 hours per week for 14 weeks and will be issued an IRC laptop for the duration of the internship. Responsibilities
- Assist clients remotely or in-person with intake assessment appointments
- Assist with service documentation through case-notes and case file maintenance
- Support organization of weekly intake days at the office
- Other duties as assigned

- Per diem reimbursement at the rate of $15 per day to offset the costs of food and travel

Requirements & Qualifications
- Prior experience and interest working with refugees and immigrants preferred
- Prior experience and interest in case management or social work preferred
- Ability to work independently and as a team member in a fast-paced, global environment
- Flexible and reliable, with outstanding attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and web-based applications
- Fluency in English required, bilingual ability in one of the predominant languages of the local client base is desired
