About this opportunity
Opportunity Overview
The Norwegian Refugee Council is leading the Building Resilient Communities in Somalia consortium, which includes Action Against Hunger, Concern Worldwide, GREDO, the International Rescue Committee, KAALO, Save the Children, and others. The consortium is implementing the Advancing Adaptation through Resilient mobility And Natural capital project, a three-year initiative funded by the FCDO. This project aims to support marginalized communities in Somalia to become more resilient to shocks and stresses, including those caused by climate change. The project operates in 15 districts across five federal member states, targeting approximately half a million Somalis. The project's Theory of Change posits that supporting more climate-resilient systems will directly reduce the severity of humanitarian needs and forced displacement in Somalia. The project is organized into six interconnected technical workstreams, each led by a designated workstream lead. The workstreams focus on areas such as housing, land, and property rights, ecosystem and natural resource management, market systems and livelihoods, early warning and early action, durable solutions and urban planning, and evidence, learning, and adaptation. The project recognizes the importance of learning and adaptive management in achieving its objectives. To this end, the project operates with a prioritized learning ecosystem comprising diverse actors who coordinate closely, identify learning priorities, and reflect on evidence to inform adaptations. The learning ecosystem includes internal consortium structures, such as technical workstream leads, the programme management group, the MEAL working group, the finance working group, and the project steering committee.
