The role is fully remote, which is unusual for a casework position. Most IRC caseworkers work out of an office, but this posting allows you to work from home while coordinating services for clients in the Richmond area. You would need reliable internet and the ability to manage a caseload independently. The work itself is hands-on: you would meet clients virtually, connect them to community resources, track their progress, and document everything in the IRC's case management system. Richmond is a mid-sized city with a growing refugee community. The cost of living is lower than in Washington, D.C., or New York, and the city has a strong network of nonprofit organizations serving immigrants. Virginia's climate is mild, with hot summers and cool winters. Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of refugee and asylee clients enrolled in Intensive Case Management services
- Conduct initial assessments to identify client needs, including medical, mental health, housing, and employment concerns
- Develop individualized service plans for each client and update them regularly
- Connect clients to community resources such as healthcare providers, food assistance programs, and English language classes
- Advocate on behalf of clients with landlords, government agencies, and service providers
- Provide cultural orientation and help clients understand U.S. systems, including public benefits and transportation
- Document all client interactions and services in the IRC's case management database
- Coordinate with other IRC staff, including employment specialists and health navigators, to ensure clients receive comprehensive support
- Track client progress toward self-sufficiency goals and report outcomes to funders
- Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions

Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field
- At least 1-2 years of experience in case management, refugee resettlement, or a similar social services role
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting with minimal supervision
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database systems
