About this opportunity
Tencent is hiring an AI IT Engineer Intern to build internal AI-powered applications and automation platforms that streamline IT and business processes. This is a hands-on role working with real production systems, not toy projects. You will help develop RAG pipelines, multi-agent workflows, knowledge retrieval systems, and event-driven automation that connect enterprise systems like ServiceNow, Workday, and Microsoft Graph. The role sits at the intersection of IT operations and AI engineering. You will split time between building automation tools and providing hands-on IT support for end-user devices, networking, AV systems, and office infrastructure. That means one day you might be designing a hybrid search solution for a CMDB knowledge graph, and the next you might be supporting onboarding or access management. The internship is designed for undergraduate students in Computer Science, Information Systems, IT, AI, or related fields who want to apply technology to reduce manual and repetitive work. Tencent is one of the world's largest technology companies, headquartered in Shenzhen, China. It operates WeChat, one of the most widely used messaging and payments platforms globally, and has major businesses in gaming, cloud computing, fintech, and digital content. The company employs tens of thousands of people across offices in Asia, Europe, and the Americas. As an equal opportunity employer, Tencent states that diverse voices fuel its innovation and help it better serve users and the community. The role requires fluent Mandarin Chinese to collaborate with cross-border teams, which suggests you will work closely with colleagues in China. Tencent's headquarters in Shenzhen is a major tech hub with a fast-paced work culture, and the city has a relatively high cost of living compared to other Chinese cities, though still lower than Hong Kong or Shanghai. If you are an international student, you will need to confirm your visa status and work eligibility with Tencent's HR team before applying.
