About this opportunity
Kifiya Financial Technology PLC is hiring for three roles in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, all tied to its Smart Mobility division. The company is a digital finance and payment services provider that builds technology to make financial and non-financial services more accessible across Ethiopia. Its Smart Mobility arm focuses on digital payment solutions for transportation, including fare collection and fleet management systems. The three open positions are Area Sales Manager, Smart Mobility (deadline August 20, 2026), Data Base Administrator, Smart Mobility (deadline August 6, 2026), and Backend Engineer (deadline August 6, 2026). Each role supports Kifiya's mission of simplifying transactions through technology, with a focus on expanding its mobility payment network across the country. Kifiya operates in Ethiopia's growing fintech sector, a space that has expanded rapidly as mobile money and digital payments become mainstream. The company works with banks, microfinance institutions, and transport operators to build payment infrastructure. Its Smart Mobility products are used in public transport systems, helping digitize fare payments and reduce cash handling. Working in Addis Ababa means being in Ethiopia's commercial and political hub, a city of roughly five million people. The cost of living is moderate compared to Western capitals, though inflation has pushed up prices for housing and imported goods in recent years. The city sits at 2,355 meters above sea level, which gives it a mild climate year-round, with rainy seasons from June to September and February to May. Work culture in Ethiopia's tech sector is professional and growing, with English commonly used in the workplace, especially at companies like Kifiya that serve international partners. Foreign applicants would need a work permit, which employers typically sponsor for specialized roles.
