Christian Aid is hiring a Locally Led Anticipatory Action (LLAA) Coordinator to be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. This is a two-year, full-time fixed-term contract with an annual salary of 2,336,136 Bangladeshi Taka. The role reports to the Humanitarian Lead and supports a 24-month anticipatory action programme spanning Bangladesh and Myanmar. The coordinator will work alongside the Asia Multi-Country Cluster (MCC) Humanitarian Lead and the LLAA Manager to manage a programme that aligns with Christian Aid's locally led humanitarian approach. The core focus is on shifting power to local actors, using what the organization calls a decolonised approach to partnership. That means building relationships with local, national, and international stakeholders based on humility, respect, and mutuality, rather than imposing external solutions. Day-to-day work involves developing training materials, mentoring partner staff, providing operational support to a portfolio of partners, and collecting best practices from pilot projects in both countries. Christian Aid is a global movement of people, churches, and local organizations working to end poverty. It operates in around 25 countries across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, and the Caribbean. The organization is known for its work on humanitarian response, climate justice, and gender equality, and it is a member of the ACT Alliance, a coalition of churches and related organizations working in humanitarian aid and advocacy. This role sits within that broader mission, with a specific focus on anticipatory action, which means acting before a crisis hits rather than responding after the damage is done. Dhaka is one of the most densely populated cities in the world, with a fast-growing economy and a high cost of living relative to other parts of Bangladesh. The working language in the international NGO sector is English, though knowledge of Bengali is useful for engaging with local partners. Bangladesh is highly vulnerable to climate-related disasters, including cyclones, floods, and river erosion, which makes anticipatory action particularly relevant here. The role requires the right to live and work in Bangladesh, and successful candidates will need to pass police and counter-terrorism checks.
Responsibilities
- Develop learning and training materials for Asia MCC staff and partners in Bangladesh and Myanmar on Christian Aid's locally led approach to anticipatory action
- Provide operational support to a portfolio of partners using decolonised and localised approaches that foster connection and collaboration
- Deliver training and mentoring to MCC and partner staff, building relationships based on trust and openness
- Contribute to global discussions to advocate for and share learnings about locally led anticipatory action with donors, peer agencies, supporters, ACT Alliance, and the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC)
- Identify, develop, collect, and disseminate best practice and learning from Asia MCC's locally led anticipatory action pilots
- Continuously invest in personal and institutional technical capabilities on locally led anticipatory action approaches
- Support quality, consistency, and coherence across the programme with technical oversight from the CA LLAA Manager

Requirements & Qualifications
Essential:
- Demonstrable experience in anticipatory action, locally led approaches, and inclusion in humanitarian programmes
- Significant experience in facilitating capacity building of partners and country teams
- Significant experience in designing and delivering training, mentoring, and providing technical support
- Demonstrable experience of working with people and communities in three humanitarian contexts, of which two should be in a Fragile and Conflict-Affected State (FCAS)
- Understanding of partnership approaches and experience of working with local partners
- Understanding of humanitarian principles and international standards, including SPHERE, the Red Cross Code of Conduct for NGOs working in emergencies, and the Core Humanitarian Standards
- Highly developed communications skills, both written and spoken, for a variety of audiences
- Highly developed ability to write clear, concise reports
- Highly developed ability to build effective working relationships across organisations
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence, motivate, and inspire others to take up new challenges
Desirable:
- Educated to degree level, ideally in development studies, disaster risk reduction, anticipatory action, or humanitarian response
