About this opportunity
The Junior Operations Officer role at this organization is based in Ethiopia and focuses on the day-to-day operational work that keeps programs running smoothly. This is an entry-level position designed for someone early in their career who wants to build a solid foundation in operations management, logistics, and administrative coordination within a professional work environment. The organization operates in Ethiopia and is part of the broader development and business in the country. Ethiopia has one of the fastest-growing economies in Africa, with a young population and expanding urban centers like Addis Ababa. The cost of living in Addis Ababa is relatively low compared to Western cities, though it has been rising in recent years. The work culture in Ethiopian offices tends to be formal and hierarchical, with a strong emphasis on punctuality and professional dress. English is widely used in professional settings, especially in international organizations and larger companies, though Amharic is the working language for many local operations. For a junior-level professional, this role offers a chance to learn how operations function in a real organizational setting. You would work alongside more experienced staff, handling tasks that require attention to detail, organization, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities. The position is well-suited for recent graduates with a degree in business administration, management, or a related field, or for someone with a year or two of relevant work experience who wants to formalize their skills. The role is based in Ethiopia, and candidates should be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment where operational efficiency directly affects program delivery. Whether the organization focuses on development projects, commercial activities, or a mix of both, the operations function is the backbone that supports everything else. This is a practical, hands-on job where you will learn by doing, and the experience gained here can open doors to more senior operations roles in the future.
