About this opportunity
WHO's Regional Office for Africa (AFRO) is looking for a Report Writer to join its Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) Cluster as a UN Volunteer. The assignment is remote and runs for four weeks. The core task is to turn data from multiple technical teams into the Cluster's annual report, a document that summarizes achievements, challenges, and impact across the African Region. The EPR Cluster helps Member States prevent, detect, and respond to health emergencies. Its annual report is a key accountability tool, used by the Regional Emergency Director, partners, and communities. The UN Volunteer will work directly with the Regional Emergency Director, technical teams, and Program Area Managers to collect inputs, structure complex information, and produce a clear narrative that meets WHO reporting standards. The final report will support decision-making, partner engagement, and future strategic planning. The World Health Organization is the United Nations agency for public health, coordinating international responses to disease outbreaks and health crises. Its Africa office covers 47 Member States and has been central to responses for Ebola, COVID-19, cholera, and other emergencies across the continent. This volunteer role sits inside that operational structure, not in a research or academic setting. The work is fully remote, so you can be based anywhere with a reliable internet connection. The timeline is tight: a methodological note and outline in week one, a draft in week two, a revised draft in week three, and a final report in week four. You will need to work efficiently and communicate clearly with multiple stakeholders across different time zones.
