Publications Associate

The World Health Organization's Western Pacific Regional Office is hiring a Publications Associate to work in its KMU unit. The incumbent will assist in monitoring the implementation of the operational workplan and activities for WPRO's publishing programme. The role involves working with publications, managing workload, and developing skills to ensure efficient and effective services. The position is based in the Western Pacific Regional Office. The Publications Associate will be responsible for a range of tasks, including proofreading, developing follow-up mechanisms, and guiding other team members. The ideal candidate will have experience in administrative management of publications and strong interpersonal and organizational skills. The role requires a strong understanding of WHO's rules, regulations, and procedures. Responsibilities Assist in monitoring the implementation of the operational workplan and activities for WPRO's publishing programme Conduct initial review of product proposals and requests for publishing articles in external journals and information products Proofread formatted and laid out information products for quality assurance Develop and maintain an effective follow-up mechanism to track and monitor ongoing products Guide other members of the WPRO Publications team in managing workload, skills development, and possible work process improvements Assist with the updating of promotional channels and materials with the latest or priority WHO publications Regularly review journals and magazines in the region, liaise with associations, and explore joint promotion activities Provide guidance to Regional technical units and Country Offices on their publication needs and promotions Coordinate graphic design, printing services, and translations for WPRO publications Maintain records of the sales and distribution of individual publications and prepare sales performance reports Prepare flyers and materials for distribution and set up Publication booth and other promotion opportunities Keep track and assign ISBN/ISSN and DOI to every new publication issued by the Regional Office Requirements & Qualifications Completion of secondary education supplemented by training in publications and office administration A minimum of eight years of experience in administrative management of publications Knowledge of WHO rules, regulations, support procedures, practices, and rules In-depth knowledge of additional operational service areas with less complex rules and procedures Proven team management, mentoring, and facilitation skills Strong interpersonal and organizational skills Expert knowledge of English and local language Desirable: A university degree in mass communications or a related field, experience handling health-related publications, and knowledge of French or Chinese Benefits Annual net base salary starting at PHP 1,025,043 30 days of annual leave Attractive remuneration package Parental leave and flexible work arrangements to promote a healthy work-life balance 2. The Senior Finance Assistant will be part of a team that provides processing and accounting services, and will be required to work closely with colleagues within and across departments.
