Opportunity Overview Travelodge Strathmore is hiring a chef to work on site in Strathmore, Alberta. The job is permanent, full-time, and requires 35 hours of work per week. The salary is $22.20 per hour, and overtime is required, including early morning, evening, and weekend shifts. The job starts as soon as possible, and there are two vacancies available. The work setting is a hotel, motel, or resort, and the chef will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including estimating food costs, maintaining records, and supervising kitchen staff. The ideal candidate will have a secondary school graduation certificate and three to five years of experience in the field. The chef will be required to work on site, with no option to work remotely. Responsibilities - Estimate amount and costs of supplies and food items - Estimate labour costs - Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory - Analyze operating costs and other data - Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff - Supervise activities of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks, and other kitchen workers - Create new recipes - Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of food - Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets - Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff - Prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions - Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods - Consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets, and specialty functions - Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards - Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances - Supervise activities of sous-chefs, specialist chefs, chefs, and cooks - Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food Requirements & Qualifications - Secondary school graduation certificate - 3 years to less than 5 years of experience - Ability to work on site, with no remote work option - English language required - Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or temporary resident with a valid work permit Benefits - $22.20 hourly salary - 35 hours of work per week - Overtime required, including early morning, evening, and weekend shifts - Permanent employment How to Apply 1.
