
Finance Manager
Finance Manager Opportunity Overview The Finance Manager position is based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and reports directly to the organization's leadership. This is a senior-level role responsible for overseeing all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, accounting, and financial reporting. The Finance Manager will work closely with program teams to ensure funds are used efficiently and in compliance with donor requirements. The role involves managing a team of finance staff, preparing financial statements, coordinating audits, and ensuring that all financial practices align with local tax laws and international accounting standards. The Finance Manager will also play a key role in developing financial strategies that support the organization's growth and sustainability. This position is ideal for a seasoned finance professional with several years of experience in financial management, preferably within the non-profit or development sector. The successful candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders. Responsibilities - Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions - Prepare and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for internal and external stakeholders - Ensure compliance with Ethiopian tax regulations, labor laws, and international financial reporting standards - Coordinate and prepare for internal and external audits, ensuring all documentation is accurate and available - Manage cash flow, bank reconciliations, and petty cash operations - Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls - Supervise and mentor finance team members, providing training and performance feedback - Prepare donor financial reports and ensure funds are used in accordance with grant agreements - Monitor project budgets and provide financial analysis to program managers - Liaise with banks, auditors, and government authorities on financial matters Requirements & Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field - Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration is preferred - Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent is highly desirable - Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in financial management - Experience working with international donors and managing grant-funded projects - Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws and financial regulations - Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Peachtree, or SAP - Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling - Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English - Working knowledge of Amharic is an advantage - Strong leadership and team management abilities - High level of integrity and ethical standards Benefits - Competitive salary commensurate with experience - Health insurance coverage for the employee and dependents - Annual leave and sick leave as per Ethiopian labor law - Professional development and training opportunities - Opportunity to work with a diverse, mission-driven team How to Apply 1.
